About this project
New chips help users run apps faster, keep devices working longer, and handle more tasks on smartphones, computers, and cars. Mobile, computing, automotive, and data center applications increasingly demand chips that are both faster and more energy-efficient. To meet these needs, MediaTek and TSMC have developed a new system-on-chip SoC using TSMC enhanced N2P 2nm process. The chip is designed to deliver higher performance while reducing power consumption, helping devices run longer, handle more demanding tasks, and stay cooler. The N2P process builds on TSMC 2nm technology, the first to use nanosheet transistors. Compared with the current N3E process, it can boost performance by up to 18 percent at the same power, cut energy use by around 36 percent at the same speed, and increase logic density by 1.2x. This SoC is aimed at companies designing flagship smartphones, advanced computing systems, automotive electronics, and data center infrastructure. Volume production is expected in late 2026, offering these industries a more efficient and powerful chip solution for next-generation devices. MediaTek innovations powered by TSMC 2nm technology underscores our industry leadership, as we continue to push forward with the most advanced semiconductor process technologies available for a variety of devices and applications. Our long history of close collaboration with TSMC has led to incredible advancements in solutions for our global customers, offering the highest performance and power efficiency from the edge to the cloud. N2P represents a significant step forward in the nanosheet era for TSMC, demonstrating our relentless dedication to fulfilling our customers needs and tuning and improving our technologies to deliver energy-efficient computing capability. Our ongoing collaboration with MediaTek focuses on maximizing enhanced performance and power capabilities across a wide range of applications.
