About this project

This project is a desktop quiz application built with JavaFX that presents multiple-choice questions loaded from a MySQL database, one at a time, with a countdown timer per question rendered using JavaFX's Timeline and ProgressBar.

Questions are organized by category and difficulty, selectable from a start screen, and the JDBC layer randomizes question order on each attempt to reduce memorization. A results screen at the end shows the score, time taken, and a breakdown of correct/incorrect answers.

The project uses FXML for the layout, a DAO class for question retrieval, and demonstrates JavaFX property binding to keep the timer and score display reactive to underlying state changes.

Detailed Project Description

Java Quiz Application (JavaFX) delivers questions, scores answers instantly and tracks progress so learners can practise and administrators can evaluate.

How It Works
1. Questions are stored with options, correct answers and categories.
2. A session presents questions one by one with a timer where required.
3. Answers are scored immediately and results saved per user.
4. Leaderboards / reports show performance over time.

Technology Roles
- Java
- JavaFX
- JDBC
- MySQL
- FXML

Implementation Steps
1. Define requirements and draw the ER / class diagram and screen flow.
2. Set up the environment (JDK, JavaFX SDK, MySQL Connector/J) and create the project skeleton.
3. Design the database schema / data model and seed it with sample data.
4. Implement the core modules with validation and role-based access where needed.
5. Build the user interface and connect it to the backend / data layer.
6. Test each module (unit + manual), fix edge cases and secure inputs (SQL injection, XSS, auth).
7. Prepare documentation, screenshots and a demo build.

Key Features
- Question bank
- Timed sessions
- Instant scoring
- Progress tracking / leaderboard

Expected Output
On completion the student will have a scored result per attempt and a history of performance.
