Industrial Robot based on Arduino Mega 2560 Pro Mini

In this project, we made an industrial robot with arduino mega 2560 pro mini and servo motors. This Robot can do any task as a normal human can do. We used 3D Printed parts to make the Robot body to make it harder and safer for industrial use.

About this project

Robots are integral part of any industry whether its automobile industry, FMCG industry etc. In the future, when the automation will become dominant compare to manual work, robots will play crucial part in all the processes. So, here you will see an industrial robot that is based on Arduino Mega 2560 Pro Mini. We have previously built many Robotics projects using Arduino.

Hardware and Software Selection

For this project, I have selected the Arduino Mega 2560 Pro Mini because it is very small, compatible, and low-cost. Here I have used MG995 servos. But you can choose any low budget or small plastic gear servos. But for my project, I needed some heavy servos so I have chosen the MG995 servos.

Now for the software in case, we can use Eiang IDE. But I have chosen Arduino IDE because it is very much simple and helpful for beginners.

Industrial Robot Circuit Diagram

Here, the nineteen servo motors are connected to the Arduino Mega 2560 Pro Mini. There are 3 servos for each hand and 6 servos for each of the legs. A servo is also there for the head.

This Robot can do any task as a normal human can do. It looks similar to a human body. I have used 3D Printed parts to make the Robot body to make it harder and safer for industrial use. Here, to make my robot use for industrial purposes, we need to make it in a little bigger size. Also, we can implant many more features like voice control, camera vision, display, and so on.

Detailed Project Description

Industrial Robot based on Arduino Mega 2560 Pro Mini demonstrates closed-loop motion control: sensor input is turned into motor commands so the machine moves precisely and safely.

How It Works
1. Motors/servos are driven through a driver board from the controller's PWM outputs.
2. Commands come from a remote (Wi-Fi/BLE/RF/gesture) or from an autonomous algorithm.
3. Sensors (IMU, encoders, distance, GPS, LiDAR) provide feedback for stabilisation and obstacle avoidance.
4. A control loop adjusts motor outputs several times per second.

Key Components and Their Role
- ESP32: dual-core Wi-Fi + Bluetooth microcontroller that runs the firmware, reads the sensors and hosts the network connection.
- Arduino: microcontroller board that reads the inputs, runs the control logic and drives the outputs.
- Raspberry Pi: single-board Linux computer that runs the higher-level processing and networking.
- Ultrasonic sensor: time-of-flight distance sensor used for level or obstacle measurement.
- Servo motor: position-controlled actuator driven with a PWM signal.
- L298N: dual H-bridge motor driver for DC motors.
- Camera module: image sensor used for capture, streaming or computer vision.
- OpenCV: computer-vision library used for image processing and detection.

Implementation Steps
1. Collect the components and study each module's datasheet (pin-out, voltage, interface).
2. Wire the circuit on a breadboard following the pin mapping; power sensors from the correct rail (3.3 V / 5 V).
3. Install Arduino IDE, ROS, Python and the required libraries; flash a minimal test sketch for each module separately.
4. Write the main firmware: read sensors → process → drive outputs / send data.
5. Configure network or cloud credentials and test communication end-to-end.
6. Calibrate thresholds, add error handling (reconnect, sensor time-out) and run a long-duration test.
7. Finalise on a PCB / enclosure and document wiring, code and results.

Key Features
- Remote or autonomous control
- Sensor feedback
- Obstacle handling
- Adjustable speed / precision

Expected Output
On completion the student will have a machine that follows the commanded path or task reliably, with telemetry visible to the operator.
