About this project

This project is a complete Android e-commerce shopping application built using Java and the Android SDK, backed by Firebase for authentication and real-time data storage. The app allows users to browse products by category, search items, view detailed product pages with images, add items to a cart or wishlist, and place orders with a secure checkout flow.

Key modules include user registration and login (email/password and Google Sign-In), a home screen with banners and featured products, category and product-detail activities, a cart with quantity management, an order history screen, and an admin panel to add or edit products. Payments are handled through Razorpay integration in test mode, and push notifications are delivered using Firebase Cloud Messaging.

The architecture follows the MVVM pattern with LiveData and ViewModel, using RecyclerView adapters for lists, Glide for image loading, and Room for offline caching of the cart. This makes the app a strong final-year project demonstrating real-world mobile development, cloud integration, and clean architecture.

Detailed Project Description

Android E-Commerce Shopping App provides a complete buy-and-sell workflow: browsing products, managing a cart, placing orders and, on the admin side, managing catalogue, stock and orders.

How It Works
1. Users register/login and browse products by category or search.
2. Selected items go to a cart; checkout collects address and payment details and creates an order.
3. Admins manage products, stock, prices, orders and reports from a separate panel.
4. Order status updates are shown to the customer.

Implementation Steps
1. Define requirements and draw the ER / class diagram and screen flow.
2. Set up the environment (Android Studio, Firebase, Glide) and create the project skeleton.
3. Design the database schema / data model and seed it with sample data.
4. Implement the core modules with validation and role-based access where needed.
5. Build the user interface and connect it to the backend / data layer.
6. Test each module (unit + manual), fix edge cases and secure inputs (SQL injection, XSS, auth).
7. Prepare documentation, screenshots and a demo build.
